Alresford Festival of Toy Trains
(Hampshire, UK) The show is the largest of its kind in southern England and aims to raise money for groups in and around Alresford. Bay Ridge Model Railroad Club
(Kingston, NY) The Bay Ridge Model Railroad Club was organized in 1946 and was previously located in Bay Ridge Brooklyn. Its huge, hand-spiked, outside 3rd rail laout occupied a space of 30 x 60 feet. In 2019, the club received notice that it would be evicted from its longtime home - but has now found a new home at the Trolley Museum of New York. The model railroad is expected to be reassembled and in full operation soon.

Railroads at Work - 1939
This model train layout at the 1939 World's Fair was 160 feet wide and 40 feet deep. It featured over 3500 feet of O gauge track, 500 pieces of rolling stock and 50 locomotives. Now visit the show, by way of the scans of an original Souvenir Program.

Edgerton Model Railroad Club
(Rochester, NY) Our four layouts in O scale depict the four seasons. The backdrops were painted by the Rochester Art Club the Lionel Corporation donated $5,000 worth of trains, tracks and other accessories the City of Rochester supplied a crew of carpenters who built the train room. New York Governor Thomas E. Dewey officially opened the P.A.L. Model Railroad Heaven with a ceremony on October 27, 1950.

All Gauge Toy Train Association
(San Diego, CA) Welcome to the All Gauge Toy Train Association, founded in 1969. AGTTA is one of the friendliest and largest toy / model train clubs in San Diego. Our meets are centrally located in the La Jolla area and are generally held on the SECOND THURSDAY of each month with the exception of June's meet which is held on the Saturday before Father's Day.
Northern California Division of the Train Collectors Association
(CA) The Northern California Division (Nor-Cal) was formed in 1957 in order to provide a local venue for meetings. Nor-Cal holds meetings once a month, normally on the second Saturday of the month, at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Lafayette. Nor-Cal also holds the big Spring Cal-Stewart Meet in Santa Clara in March.
Western Division, Train Collectors Association
Western Division carries out the TCA mission by holding 10 monthly meets during the calendar year. At these meets, the trading and displaying of tinplate toy trains and toy train related items takes place. TCA Western is the only Southern California based toy train club that provides free use of tables for these purposes. We have plenty of them available, in a well lighted, spacious hall.

Police are investigating the theft of "irreplacable" model railway locomotives valued at £30,000 in a raid on a transportation museum.
Alco Big Boy locomotive coming back to life (The Associated Press, April 15, 2014)
CHEYENNE, Wyo. — In its prime, a massive steam locomotive known as Big Boy No. 4014 was a moving eruption of smoke and vapor, a 6,300-horsepower brute dragging heavy freight trains over the mountains of Wyoming and Utah. It's been silent for half a century, pushed aside by more efficient diesels, but now it's coming back to life. The Union Pacific Railroad is embarking on a yearslong restoration project that will put No. 4014 back to work pulling special excursion trains.
Goering’s Trains Found (Washington Post)
A morphine addict who kept pet lions, jangled emeralds like small change in his pockets and built up a huge stash of stolen art, Goering also loved toys. Photos show him displaying his train sets to houseguests including Hitler and the Hungarian leader Miklos Horthy in the attic and basement of Carinhall. After moving his collection to Bavaria, Goering ordered Carinhall to be dynamited to prevent it falling into Soviet hands. The fate of the model trains is unknown.

Voltamp 2222
Voltamp was the first manufacturer to introduce a six wheel drive tinplate toy locomotive. In about 1908 or 1909, they introduced model 2222, a 4-6-0 locomotive accompanied by an eight wheel tender. This video shows the earliest version of the 2222, known as the "high cab" version, characterized by twin "cathedral" style cab windows. The loco is pulling an early 2103 "Royal Blue Limited" combine car with wood floor and flat car ends.

On May 10, 1893, the 999 became the fastest land vehicle when it reached a record speed of 112.5 mph. The 999 maintained the record for a decade.

Northern Pacific Railway Museum
(Toppenish, WA) The Toppenish railroad depot was built by the Northern Pacific Railway in 1911. For 50 years it served as the transportation center of the community. In 1961 passenger service from Toppenish was discontinued. In 1993 the depot and adjacent freight house were purchased from the Burlington Northern Railroad.

Paulinskill Viaduct
The Paulinskill Viaduct (also known as the Hainesburg Viaduct) was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. It is part of what is known as the Lackawanna Cutoff which shortened the time and grades between Scranton, Pennsylvania and Hoboken, New Jersey. It crosses the Paulins Kill also called the Paulinskill River.

Tunkhannock Viaduct
(Nicholson, PA) Steamtown National History Site-Excursion to the Tunkhannock Viaduct. The Tunkhannock Viaduct was built by the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. It was completed in 1915. It is 2,375 feet long and 240 feet high. It crosses the Tunkhannock Creek.

The Tragic 1895 Train Wreck at the Paris, France, Montparnasse Station
The derailment and wreck of the Granville – Paris Express was on October 22, 1895, after it overran a buffer stop and crashed through a (2 ft) thick wall, shot across an outside terrace and plummeted (30 ft) onto the street below, where it ended up as seen in the photos. Amazingly only two of the 131 passengers and two conductors sustained injuries. Tragically there was one fatality of a woman running a newsstand who was killed instantly by falling masonry. The Wreck of the Old 97
The "Old 97" was a Southern Railway mail train, running from Washington, D.C. to Atlanta, Georgia. The annual mail contract was worth about $3,500,000 in today’s money, but there were stiff penalties for each minute the train was late. On Sunday 27 September 1903, engineer Joseph A. (“Steve”) Broady took over a train at Monroe with an almost new 4-6-0 locomotive (number 1102). But it was a train running an hour late, and Broady was under pressure to make up time...
Union Pacific Railroad Acquires Big Boy Locomotive No. 4014
OMAHA, NEB., JULY 23, 2013 - Union Pacific Railroad today announced it reached an agreement with the Southern California Chapter - Railway & Locomotive Historical Society in Pomona, Calif., to transfer ownership of one of the world's largest steam locomotives, Big Boy No. 4014, back to Union Pacific. Union Pacific plans to relocate No. 4014 to Cheyenne, Wyo., where Union Pacific's Heritage Fleet Operations team will work to restore it to operating condition.

(Abilene, KS) The recently restored #3415 "Pacific" 4-6-2 steam engine will operate for the third season on a limited schedule. Check the events tab for days and times. This engine sat in the Eisenhower Park, Abilene, Kansas for over 40 years, having been retired by Santa Fe in the 1950's. It took over four years to restore the engine, with about 12,000 volunteer hours and the help of two grants.

Cab ride, runby on D&SNGRR high line. Built by the Rio Grande Southern in the depression (1933) to operate rail traffic without the expense of steam locomotives and crews. Originally built out of a Pierce Arrow touring car the body and engine were replaced in the late 40's with a war surplus Wayne bus body and a big GMC 352 cubic inch 6 cylinder gasoline truck engine.

Riding on "Best Friend of Charleston"
A home movie depicting a ride on the "Best Friend of Charleston" -- a historic re-creation of the first steam railroad locomotive built entirely in the United States. This reproduction was built in 1928 to celebrate the centennial of the South Carolina Canal and Railroad. The excursion depicted in the film took place in North East, PA on September 27, 1986.
South Jersey Trains- Late February 2016
The main highlight in this extra February edition is the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey 'Blue Unit' (there is also a 'Red Unit' train that travels the country and the 'Gold Unit' act that travels by truck) circus train. The entire train is shown in the video at a new location for me- Laurel Hill in Philadelphia.
